After being out of the gardening business for twenty plus years, and then finding myself in need of work, I had a call from Bill Kunze of Jungle Taming LLC. Bill said he had a couple of jungle taming jobs too small for his crew and wanted to know if I could take care of them. At the time I had not done jungle taming work since I left Columbia in 1987 to go back to seminary, and a friend had passed along my name to Bill. So, I did the jobs, got a few referrals, and was able to pay my bills and get back into shape during the hottest summer in Columbia’s recorded history!
Bill Kunze operates a business called Jungle Taming. You can find out about his work on his web site jungletaming.com. Bill is a prince of a fellow and will do right by you if you need his services.
Our work overlaps to some degree but generally Bill conquers larger and more complex jobs than I do – especially ones that require more equipment and/or more cooperation between multiple contractors. He is also licensed in herbicide and pesticide use. I do not love herbicides and pesticides but when they are needed it is both more effective and more environmentally sound to let a pro take care of it.
Bill does not do ongoing bed maintenance and generally does not do planting himself. But he will oversee a job and see that it all gets done in a way that serves his customers. If you need a total package garden restoration person who can take you from jungle to eden, Bill is your guy. You can reach him at info@jungletaming.com or by phone at 803-463-2655.
